No man deserves punishment for his thoughts. -- Ukrainian Proverb

What sounds farcical and absurd to people in America within our comfortably insulated lives and economy, may not be so far from the truth in Eastern Ukraine. Few people know what is really going on, where things will be in 2 years time.....Little has been mentioned in the press, that Belarus is making serious preparations for war, maybe hosting the Minsk talks, they know more than anyone?

Since out of date, antiquated military gear has openly been used in Eastern Ukraine, things that can be bought on the arms market Internationally, what about those items disused, unwanted since they are out of date, but not on the open market? For instance R-12 (SS-4) and R-14 (SS--5) Intermediate range ballistic missiles from the former Soviet Arsenal?
For instance, can old missiles be broken down into components, shipped inside "aid convoys" and reassembled in Lugansk and Donetsk? It might be labelled as "water purification" or "energy generators" It seems entirely in Mister Putin's interest to establish "Rogue States" within Ukraine, in other words, to reverse plausible deniability, that some action originating from these entities would not be the approved actions of the Kremlin, even as much as they have upped the "shell game" and left it open as to whether they do or do not keep tactical nuclear weapons in Crimean territory? Certainly, it represents a very rapid delivery route into any number of NATO countries. Those disused coal mines can be useful for hiding all sorts of things, masking radiation signatures from aerial reconnaissance ....
Now,it looks easy to wait for some tacit International recognition of these quasi independent Regions within Ukraine, allow them to build up an inspection free arsenal of weaponry outside of any International agreements, chemical, biological, nuclear, yet be backed by the Russian Federation as a "protectorate Republic" Will they revert to the classic Soviet Style Communist era system of governance?
Will media, and even art be strictly prescribed by state mandates to fit this style?
There are stories that these old Soviet ballistic missile systems were compromised by mice who were attracted to chewing on the electrical insulation in the electronics, guidance and detonation packages, they had to release cats inside the missiles to clear the mice....In other words these old missile parts are not functional and they can be re purposed : no one could conceivably make this old gear workable ? But perhaps this is one more painfully hidden narrative  waiting to emerge?

A pro-Russian lady acquaintance of mine I was with a few days ago was rattling on and on about all the stuff they go on about : for them , President Obama is a curiosity, it is George Soros who is the one they view on some polar opposite parity with Putin, for them Soros is our Putin, the clever mastermind with dark intentions upon the Russian People.(I don't think she ever really made any effort to read up about George Soros' history, or maybe the only thing they focus on is the story of Russian soldiers raping his mom....< that it is about revenge served cold) There are many ameliorating components to the total history / simplification, it makes things impossible when it's imposed.
This lady has a raging vanity and claims partial credit for the Greek Governments position in all this geopolitical stuff going on now between Russia and the EU/ Greece, at one point , she lost her balance and fell off her bar stool while taking a selfie, and I helped her up off the floor. Many people here,  they deride Obama, and have zero respect for him, they hardly see him as more than  a manager. Yet their UA media makes little effort to study his big picture thinking. His true legacy may take years to bear fruit : history will be the judge, now is not the time for that in my humble opinion.
Yet it's a sign of the open society in Ukraine, that people are free to say whatever they want, as long as it doesn't openly provoke confrontation.  I can forgive people who simplify things and see the world from old stereotypes, those who don't take the time to understand another person or show compassion. I hope things change for the better soon, it can't keep getting worse and worse all the time, it's not possible to return to the past. Yet what is America ready to do to really support Ukraine?
Is it true about the offer of 40 Acres and a mule for every Ukraine army member ? Will that be 40 acres of land in America ? and as for the mule, does it mean a Nissan Pathfinder ? This news that USA is going to supply Ukraine with weapons is making Russia very angry, yet some people are making persuasive arguments for it.

Less jingoism and more up front talk about what the deal is going to be would help to alleviate concerns and hopefully lead to recovery of Regional economics, and improved Public health. It sounds good, but how to get there?
