anyone's guess, how it will go ?

Investors were pouring big money into Crimea in 2012, or something like that, this was a major real estate development that I encountered, hiking around on foot in Sudak. It's an entire complex: there were Range Rovers cruising about the job site, there were hundreds of workers doing things, skilled workers, or semi-skilled men . I viewed it from above, it's an interesting location, they excavated around super large rock, and they had video / film cameras set upon the large rock, documenting the constructions. Nobody noticed me up there at the time, I hiked on to some other areas. It had the feeling of a rich environment, a lot of real estate value. Much of this was supposedly financed by dishonored loans through Ukrainian banks, but I am uncertain if this wasn't financed by Russian Banks.
In any case, as ignorant as I may be of the inner workings of the convoluted situations, at the time Ukraine was relatively bereft of money, and Russia had quite a lot of Gazprom style funds just searching for places to stash stolen monies from the Russian tax payers.

while we in the USA have this rolling joke about the super- powers of our ex Presidents, like they wear capes and have some sort of Marvel super hero abilities , Ukraine has theirs: post independence it is 3 or 4, not so different from our Bush/ Clinton/ Bush/ Obama/ Trump. We gave had basically 3 or 4 transitions of power, they have had 3 or 4 transitions since Independence

nothing very surprising , but well written. My coffee buddy, Igor Kolomoisky got burned ,  on his Privat Bank holdings when Crimean territory was seized,  his nemesis, the Russian President told Crimean people, who had car loans to Ukraine's banks to ignore payments. Basically he one -upped Oprah and gave a lot of people free cars. It was something like a 50,000 $ write off, plus or minus 10 or 20 thousand . Who wouldn't vote for getting annexed, by a Nuclear super power,  if there was anything like a 55/75 thousand dollars worth incentive attached to that ?
 Not a bad maneuver?
In my mind, It's basically uncool, akin to outright stealing money from the Ukraine tax payers who had to write off losses within their banking system, yet it's all super complex and hard to discern as an external observer. Off course it all becomes another situation where the observer is observing the observer being observed...
I had more or less rubbed elbows, shared a flight from Europe with president Yuschenko. A passenger I was chatting with made a joking reference to  the fact that  he was carrying his own bag, I can't remember if it was a satchel or what.
President Yuschenko has been variously referred to as "the Bee Keeper" ,  "the village accountant" or what else? I am unsure. Yet he certainly is aware of the multitude realities besetting his Nation. In Ukraine they have a situation where the former Presidents have different personal histories, personalities and relationships with people and history, thusly a different configuration of "caped crusaders" who can parachute into conferences and situations with an existing Knowledge base that's unique and useful, if they can leverage their experience . I am basically ignorant of the dynamics each of the men faced in their presidency, yet I have stood in the places and towns and appreciated the reality on the ground , from where President Yuschenko emerged . He emerged from the region wherein the boundary between Russia and Ukraine was, if I may take the liberty of saying it, "fuzzy"
People in these regions never really thought one side of the border was so much different from the other.  The regional dialects hybridized with expressions, commonly understood idioms.
