a really Big Hen in the Fox House ?

Or is it the other way around ? A fox in the hen house ........
I can only think that the mood on the metro in Kiev, the mood of the working people, it has to be dour. with the recent corruption bust of the Ukraine Volodymyr Shapakinhas deputy prosecutor in the headlines, accused of holding  hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribe money, it would appear the old system kept rolling. What sense of trust in the central and regional governments that was building up, has been torn apart. no doubt about that . And a hyper paranoid atmosphere about corruption in  all matters will also impede the business climate. No one wins here, we all lose. Of course , it's not Napoleanic justice, he has a chance to prove his case in court, somehow or another.... it seems impossible, human nature is hard to change.

Upon separation of emotions from government, current affairs , comes this lackadaisical attitude in most matters of society : it is hard to sense people are motivated to perform any more. They become indifferent, disheartened. And frequently I am surprised,  how did these (Ukraine government employed )   people think they could get away with such things ? If somebody came to me asking for a bribe to get my sand mining operation going, how would I take that ?
I would only put an egg eating snake in the hen house if I wanted to grow a big snake. But even as much as it's a problem, the low salaries for government workers in Ukraine, so too does the USA prosecutor's office have issues, with assistant prosecutors working the Manhattan office for a year or two (at 160,000$+/- a year ), then jumping ship to work for corporations: taking all their inside information from the US prosecutor's office to their new Corporate employers and using that knowledge  to save companies tens of millions in fines and settlements, and making for them selves salaries into the millions of dollars a year (more with bonus)
and this is not me alone, big names in America speak of this issue, it's real.
How does Ukraine  attract talent and motivated people at 3000$ a year or less, one could wash cars in New Jersey for maybe ten times that, and a one way ticket to JFK is only something like 500$. It may be cheaper here, but it's not that much cheaper to buy food, feed the dog, buy a pair of shoes, and it's certainly not cheaper to buy a car or  laptop.

It is true that there is movement in legislation to make it impossible to go directly into a job defending corporations (coming out of the US Attorney's employment) yet how can the USA be so adamant that the Ukraine  clean up it's act when our own system has had yellow corruption for decades and even centuries now??
A lot of red faced Justice Ministry folks in front of TV cameras professing their chagrin at the situation emitted like a gaseous belch from the bowels of the Prosecutors office, those charged appear irrefutably guilty, and a good job seems to have been done to chase down the case against them by Ukraine's authorities. Everywhere I go, every transaction I conduct, people appear to take great care to be scrupulously honest, and it is a terrible slap in the face to every honest person in this big country that they have to hear this unfortunate reality of corruption lives on after this terribly hard revolution.
I see African students here and there, well behaved, careful, fluent enough in the lingua, and it has to be weird for people in Ukraine, that they have the bigger money, their countries choked with oil and diamonds : don't get me wrong, as I love African music, the people, culture. Now there is a Chinese delegation at the physics Institute, they get concierge treatment. I can't get a minute  to tour the historic overview there, let alone the cool stuff they are working on and trying to share. Don't get me wrong there either, as I really like Chinese  people, culture too. The United States of America, we have to simply accept the fact, we are just another player here in this theater of influence in this Brave New World. We can speak from our high economic, culturally influential horse about how corruption is the system in Russia, or that corruption is the problem to fix in Ukraine, or that corruption is insane in China : our corrupt system operates at a higher plane, and our mentality, honestly as I see it, we have our heads in the clouds, if not in the clouds, then the gutter.
Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.
If something can corrupt you, you're corrupted already.

Objective journalism is one of the main reasons that American politics has been allowed to be so corrupt for so long.
The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.
